1. Cleaning

Using solvents and emulsions to clean the steel surface removes oil, grease, dust, lubricants, and similar organic matter. However, it cannot remove rust, scale, welding flux, etc., from the steel surface, so it is only used as an auxiliary method in anti-corrosion production.

2. Tool Rust Removal

Mainly using tools such as wire brushes to grind the steel surface, it can remove loose or peeling scale, rust, welding slag, etc. Manual tool rust removal can achieve Sa2 grade, while power tool rust removal can achieve Sa3 grade. If the steel surface has firmly attached iron oxide scale, tool rust removal is not ideal and cannot achieve the anchor pattern depth required for anti-corrosion construction.

3. Pickling

Generally, chemical and electrolytic methods are used for pickling. Pipe anti-corrosion only uses chemical pickling, which can remove scale, rust, and old coatings. Sometimes it can be used as a post-treatment after sandblasting. Although chemical cleaning can improve surface cleanliness and roughness, it produces shallow anchor patterns and easily pollutes the environment.

4. Blasting (Shot Blasting) for Rust Removal

Bleach blasting (shot blasting) involves a high-power motor driving the blasting blades to rotate at high speed. This causes abrasive materials such as steel shot, steel grit, wire segments, and minerals to be blasted onto the surface of the steel pipe under centrifugal force. This process not only thoroughly removes rust, oxides, and dirt, but also achieves the desired uniform roughness due to the intense impact and friction of the abrasive materials.
